  • Beak and Talon

    Spend the day searching for nesting Bald Eagles and other birds of prey along Colorado's front range. Learn key field marks to differentiate North American raptors and search for target species like Bald Eagle, Golden Eagle, Ferruginous Hawk, Northern Harrier, Prairie Falcon, Rough-legged Hawk, Northern Pygmy Owl, and Great Horned Owl. Test your identification skills in the field, practice photography, and learn about the ecology of these fascinating predators. 8 am - 3 pm Lunch Included $350 per group (1-4 people; note that tours are in a Jeep Rubicon and that for groups of 4, 3 people will need to sit in the back) 5% of tour proceeds go to the Nature Conservancy ​

  • Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak

    Join Birding Man on an adventure-packed excursion to Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak. If birding is your thing, we'll take extra time to try to find target species like white-throated swift, canyon wren, black-headed grosbeak, western tanager, and spruce/fir species like ruby-crowned kinglet, pine siskin, hermit thrush, American three-toed woodpecker, and gray jay. We regularly spot bighorn sheep and mountain goats near the top of Pikes Peak. If birding isn't your thing, no problem. There are plenty of scenic vistas and places to explore nearby. We'll stop at the historic town of Manitou Springs for lunch and refill our water bottles with water from one of eight mineral springs. 8 am - 6 pm Pike's Peak entry fee included Coffee, water, and snacks included Transportation in a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon $400 per person/$700 for 2 people/$900 for 3 people/$1100 for 4 people 5% of proceeds from this tour will be donated to the American Bird Conservancy

  • Birds and Brews

    What could be better than an active morning of birding followed by an afternoon pub crawl? There's not a whole lot we can think of. On this adventure, Birding Man will take you to a Colorado State Park southwest of Denver where over 365 species of birds have been recorded! In the winter, one can regularly find Golden Eagle, Bald Eagle, Ferruginous Hawk, Northern Harrier, Rough-legged Hawk, Prairie Falcon, American Kestrel, along with a variety of interesting waterfowl and gulls. Throughout the tour, you'll learn about the altered hydrology of the area and why its proven to be an important stopover area for migratory shorebirds. After lunch, we'll check a few more spots for birds on our way over to a couple of our favorite microbreweries in town. Try some new beers and leave the driving up to us.  7 am - 3 pm Lunch Included Park entry fee included $400 (1-4 people; note that tours are in a Jeep Rubicon and for groups of 4, 3 people will need to sit in the back) 5% of the proceeds from this tour go to support Denver Audubon

  • Rocky Mountain Winter Wildlife

    The mountains of Colorado not only offer spectacular scenery, but they are full of unique wildlife. Enjoy a private naturalist-guided hike and experience the ecology and natural history of Rocky Mountain National Park in the winter. Look for mammals like mule deer, elk, moose, snowshoe hare, black bear, and pine marten. Find resident birds like Steller's jay, Canada jay, pygmy nuthatch, mountain chickadee, Clark's nutcracker, American three-toed woodpecker, pine grosbeak, and red crossbill. We'll also look for rosy-finches. Get out of town for the day and revel in the majesty of the Rocky Mountain winter. 8 am - 4 pm Lunch included Park reservation and entry fee included Binoculars available upon request $450 (1-4 people; note that tours are in a Jeep Rubicon and for groups of 4, 3 people will need to sit in the back) 5% of proceeds from this tour will be donated to the American Bird Conservancy 

  • Duck Duck Goose

    The lakes and reservoirs around the Denver Metro Area are home to a myriad of beautiful waterfowl over the winter months. Target species will include Hooded Merganser, Common Merganser, Common Goldeneye, Barrow's Goldeneye, Ring-necked Duck, Wood Duck, Bufflehead, Red-headed Duck, Lesser Scaup, Northern Shoveler, Cinnamon Teal, Snow Goose, Ross's Goose, and Greater White-fronted Goose. Learn key field marks to help identify some of the more difficult species, spend unhurried time in the field with an expert, and learn about the ecology and migratory habits of these all too often overlooked birds. 9 am - 1 pm Lunch not included $200 (1-4 people; note that tours are in a Jeep Rubicon and for groups of 4, 3 people will need to sit in the back) One duck stamp will be purchased from proceeds of this tour to help support waterfowl habitat protection efforts. 

  • Bighorns and Birds

    Looking for a run-in with the Colorado State mammal? Birding Man will guide you into a beautiful mountain canyon close to Denver searching for these iconic mammals. This will require a moderate hike up the canyon road between 3 and 6 miles round trip. ​In our search for bighorn sheep, we will search for foothill species like Woodhouse's Scrub-Jay, American dipper, Townsend's solitaire, spotted towhee, and golden eagle.  ​8 am - 2 pm Picnic lunch provided $300 (1-4 people; note that the tour is in a Jeep Rubicon and for groups of 4 people, 3 people will need to sit in the back) One Colorado Parks and Wildlife habitat stamp will be purchased with proceeds from this tour

    Leave the city behind in a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon to explore the wilds of Rocky Mountain National Park. Look for wildlife like mule deer, elk, moose, and bighorn sheep while learning about the spectacular geology and history of the park. Join Ryan and Angie for a backpacking adventure through Rocky Mountain National Park looking for some of this park’s most iconic species. We will look for elk, moose, mule deer, black bear, and bighorn sheep. Target birds will include white-tailed ptarmigan, dusky grouse, pine grosbeak, brown-capped rosy finch, American three-toed woodpecker, and Clark's Nutcracker. If needed, Birding Man can provide equipment like tent, backpack, thermarest, and sleeping bag.
